The
Buena Vista
- $
Founded in the 1890's,
this establishment is one
of the handful of
restaurants still
existing from San
Francisco's early years,
between the 1890's and
the 1940's. Located right
on the corner of Aquatic Square
Park, the end of the Hyde
& Beach cable car
line, overlooking the Bay
and the sailing ships at
the Hyde Street Pier.
Walking distance to
Ghirardelli Square, the
Cannery, Fisherman's
Wharf and Pier 39. They
are famous for their Irish
Coffee
and Gin Fizz. The
interior features the
original long bar, where
many singles have met and
consequently returned
years later with their
children. Patron's sit at
large, round oak tables,
shared with other
travelers. The cuisine
served is hearty American
fare. Thick, old
fashioned hamburgers,
meatloaf and mashed
potatoes with seasonal
vegetables, fresh fish,
ribs, clam chowder, apple
pie a'la mode are all
traditional favorites.
Daily specials. The Buena
Vista is also a great
place for breakfast or
brunch. Try their Eggs
Benedict or French Toast.
