A charming, new cafe (in the old Malvina's location) has opened its doors, on the corner of Washington Square Park. Rather than the usual cappuccino cafe, this new venture provides full service of breakfast, lunch and moonlit dinners at one of the best locations in the city. Romantic and fun, Cafe Divine's menu offers both Prix Fixe dinners for a reasonable $19., as well as individual selections. We recommend a starter of oven roasted mussels or perhaps an arugula salad with roasted beets, served with goat cheese & pistachio. Oven fired pizzetta's include our favorite, "Paradiso" topped with fontina, forest mushrooms, basil & truffle oil. Sandwiches include a delicious smoked turkey & bacon, with avocado and tomato focaccia. There are daily pasta specials to choose from. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, beginning at 4pm, they serve oysters, billed as " Heaven on the Half Shell". Heavenly desserts included our favorite, old-fashioned Root Beer Float for two. You might enjoy a fruit galette or Cloud Nine cheesecake with sour cream.

Cafe Divine is fast becoming a favorite destination for brunch on-the-park. There is a good selection of coffee concoctions, cafe Au Lait, espresso, cappuccino and Chai Latte, also herbal teas.

North Beach is San Francisco's favorite walk-around neighborhood. Known as the city's "Little Italy", it is also the home of the Beatnik poets, (City Light's Books, Vesuvio's, Specs, Tosca Cafe), the North Beach Fair, Columbus Day Italian Heritage celebration, jazz, (Pearl's Jazz) rock & roll (The Saloon) and comedy clubs such as (the Purple Onion), and live stage performance (Beach Blanket Babylon, Peña Pacha Mama). So, if your walking around North Beach on a day's outing, stop by for a cappuccino or a glass of wine, and experience the nice atmosphere of the Cafe Divine.
