SHINE
"Join us for some
high-spirited Halloween fun!
Costumed kids can visit
trick-or-treat stations around
the Zoo and dare to venture onto
the Haunted Nature
Trail featuring up-close
encounters with live animals.
Kids and adults can also ride the
historic Little Puffer miniature
steam train, which will take
unsuspecting passengers through a
haunted tunnel. The highlight of
the event is the special pumpkin
treat presentation to many of the
Zoo animals. A special Creepy
Crawler Critter presentation will
take place in the Insect Zoo, and
other Zoopernatural
activities are planned throughout
the day. The Zoo requests that
trick-or-treaters not wear masks
because they may frighten the
animals. "

Edwin Outwater, conductor
Youth Orchestra
Concert 1
"Saint-Saëns's
bracing military march is prelude
to one of the repertoire's most
elegant concertos, played by the
YO's Concertmaster, 13-year-old
Hannah Tarley. The Shostakovich
Fifth is the widescreen edition
of a 20th-century epic, a tale
packed with thrills, huge
struggles, and overwhelming
triumph.
Experience the
outstanding artistry of these
gifted young musicians as they
turn the energy and enthusiasm of
youth into powerful explorations
of great music. Don't miss your
chance to hear this award-winning
orchestra! Recommended for ages
12 & older.
