Alfred's
Steakhouse $$$
Alfred's Steakhouse is
one of the last of the
great old-line
restaurants of the city.
Founded in 1928, they are
located across from
historic Portsmouth
Square, just down the
block from the
Transamerica Pyramid on
Merchant Street. In this
restaurant you will find
the great steaks of
America from the best
'corn-fed' cattle ranches
of the Midwest. Aged beef
(short loins, ribs,
tenderloins, and boneless
New York steak) behind
glass can be seen from a
subtle viewpoint. Brought
in as prime cuts, the
perfectly marbleized beef
is aged up to 4 weeks to
ensure tenderness and
flavor. Our
recommendations include
the Classic Caesar Salad,
prepared by your waiter
tableside, (and one of
the few restaurants who
provide this traditional
favorite) For appetizer,
Monterey Calamari Fritti;
your favorite steak
selection, (we recommend
their superb
Chateaubriand),
complimented by a
selection from an
intelligent wine list.
Alfred's also has an
excellent variety of
fresh seafood's and
pastas.

CLASSIC
GRILL
John's
Grill -
Since 1908 - Home of the
Maltese Falcon
Downtown-Union Square $$
For those who truly know
the inside of San
Francisco's atmosphere
& past, there is no
other restaurant, or if
you will, place that
reflects history, mystery
and downright ambiance
like John's Grill. The
Interior hasn't changed
since Dashiell Hammett
sat at the bar waiting
for his "chops,
baked potato and sliced
tomato". Well, we
assume he ate this fare,
as it is aptly described
as Sam Spade's choice in
"The Maltese
Falcon"....
